Seminar-Workshop on Green Ports in the ASEAN Region

The port industry has been faced government regulations to achieve regulatory compliance on safety, security and environmental protection. While many perceive that se requirements are added costs and hampers port productivity and competitiveness, some have considered "green" and "sustainability" issues as a business attribute that enhances port competitiveness.
The port sector in North America and Europe has demonstrated positive results in implementing environmental programs and anti-pollution measures. Those ports have taken steps in implementing laws, environmental programs and green technology.
With this in view, this seminar examined international best practices, regulations and initiatives of ports in and outside region towards sustainable port development and operation. Drivers for investments in environmental initiatives in port sector were also examined.
