Youth Forum Story

On 11-15 December 2007, 40 young environmentalist gathered in Haikou City, Hainan Province, PR China for the first East Asian Seas (EAS) Youth Forum. The EAS Youth Forum, which is one of the side events for the EAS Congress 2006, provided a venue for young people to unite for the coastal and marine environment in the East Asian Seas region. Youth Agenda for the Seas of East Asia

The Youth Agenda is a product of the First East Asian Seas (EAS) Youth Forum which was held last December 11-16, 2006 at Haikou City, Hainan, PR China as one of the highlights of the EAS Congress 2006. The Youth Agenda was formed to put into practice and be able to share what was learned during the forum. It comprises the youth’s Vision and Mission for the East Asian Seas as well as their recommendations and corresponding plan of action. The framework of the Youth Agenda is embedded in the formula which is I*3 = E; Inform x Inspire x Involve = Youth Empowerment, which signifies the participants’ commitment to uphold the protection and management of the environment especially the Seas of East Asia.
