Coast to Coast 2008

Coast to Coast 2008 offers the opportunity to consider key coastal challenges and issues from a range of perspectives, to learn about new coastal initiatives and programs that tackle current and emerging issues, to attend workshops of special interest to coastal workers, and to meet, re-connect and network with the many professionals, specialists and people with an interest in the coast.

Coast to Coast 2008 will be held in Darwin, Northern Territory from 18-22nd August 2008. Coast to Coast is Australia's biennial national coastal conference, and for the first time will be held in Darwin at the new world-class, Darwin Convention Centre. Coast to Coast 2008 serves to focus debate, discussion and learning across the full range of coastal and marine issues - at the national, state, regional and local level. Proposed themes include:

  • Coastal Research & Planning for Climate Change;
  • Catchment-to-Coast Planning;
  • Coastal-Marine Biodiversity & Conservation Planning;
  • Tropical Rivers & Coastal Wetlands;
  • Monitoring Coastal, Estuarine & Marine Environments, and
  • Coastal Capacity Building & Training.

Date for late registration has been extended to 18 July.

Accommodation Bookings

Please see http://coast2coast.org.au/accommodation.html for a listing of the accommodation providers with whom special bookings have been made for the conference. All bookings for accommodation listed must come through the conference organisers to obtain the group rates.

August is Darwin's busiest tourist month and last minute accommodation will be extremely scarce.
