The three main themes frame the conference:

  • ISSUES – What is the scientific basis of our understanding of climate change?
  • EFFECTS – What are the foreseeable impacts on operations in maritime sectors?
  • POLICY – How should legal, policy and governance frameworks evolve to adapt to climate change impacts

The conference will focus on the shipping and port sectors, including fisheries. These sectors are not only of significant socio-economic relevance, but are also associated with the intensive use of marine and coastal environments. Several keynote speakers will address the need for adaptive strategies to meet future challenges and opportunities.
