In the First EAS Partnership Council Meeting held in Indonesia last 17-20 July 2007, the Chairs of the Council were elected to constitute the Council’s Executive Committee. The Executive Committee which is tasked to oversee the implementation of the decisions of the EAS Partnership Council is set to meet on 14 to 15 September 2007 at the PEMSEA Office in the Philippines to tackle the recommendations and decisions made during the 1st EAS Partnership Council Meeting as well as other key issues pertaining to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA). In particular, the EC Meeting will look into the operations of the Executive Committee, the options for establishing the PRF Legal Personality and PEMSEA Partnership Fund, the status of activities such as the State of the Coasts Reporting System, the EAS Congress 2009, etc.
