Located in the middle of China’s east coast, Lianyungang is recognized as an important transportation hub linking the north and south of China as well as connecting Eurasia Continental land bridge. It offers various kinds of investments opportunities to foreign investors through the Lianyungang Economic and Technology Development Zone and Export Processing Zone. Its coastal and marine waters offer ground for the biggest laver farming, aquaculture base, the Haizhou fishery, and the ocean farming of high-valued oyster. Concerns were raised that national policy on economic development would bring more industries and plants in this city, which could cause serious pollution, and current wastewater treatment plants with all of the discharge.
