Preah Sihanouk, Cambodia

Preah Sihanouk is one of the four coastal provinces of Cambodia, located some 226km southwest of the capital city of Phnom Penh. Its coastline, which traverses three political districts, is dotted with splendid beaches and scenic views. Preah Sihanouk is one of the three principal areas designated for tourism development, as its relatively pristine environment indicates great potential for marine and coastal tourism. The province accommodates Cambodia's only deepwater international port, and is strategically important for agriculture, forestry, fisheries, nature conservation and mineral exploration. Local stakeholders, in partnership with national counterparts, seek to develop a proactive management mechanism to effectively address the negative impacts of development projects and multiple-use conflicts.
