Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Last modified December 11, 2008

Cambodia has a colorful past and has placed a telling mark in history. With a land area of 181,035 km2 filled with natural resources, it now attracts a great number of tourists.

As part of the SGP-PEMSEA joint undertaking, a 5-hectare freshwater reservoir in Stung Hav District is being rehabilitated to provide freshwater supply for small-scale agricultural production. Communities indicated that the rehabilitation of the reservoir resulted in significant increase in the volume of groundwater from their wells. The project benefits about 2,000 families in Stung Hav. The reservoir will also be promoted as a local eco-tourism site when completed. Around 50 ceramic water purifiers were also distributed among families in Stung Hav District to ensure access to safe drinking water.
