UPDATE: EAS Futures Youth Video Competition deadline extended

Due to the recent surge in cases of COVID-19 in the East Asian region, PEMSEA has decided to extend the initial deadline of the EAS Futures Video Competition that was originally scheduled for June 1, 2021. The deadline for submissions for the video competition will now be on September 1, 2021, instead, in hopes that more youth members of the region are able to participate.

The EAS Futures Video Competition aims to exhibit the local marine actions of youth, as well as highlight local issues or challenges. This is conveyed in a 3 to 5-minute video, created entirely from material filmed or created by youth. The video competition is open to high school students, university students, and amateur photographers up to 30 years old. The entry must be an original video filmed in one of the following countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, DPR Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, RO Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Thailand, or Viet Nam. Three winners are to be selected, with the 1st prize being USD 750, the 2nd prize being USD 350, and the 3rd prize being USD 200.

The EAS Futures Video Competition aims to feature the youth’s outlook on the sustainable development of the seas of East Asia. PEMSEA firmly believes in the need to involve youth in the future of our shared seas. Youth involvement in sustainability initiatives is crucial for its long-term implementation and success.
