International Seminar on Blue Carbon Ecosystem Values: Accounting and Crediting Guidance Frameworks

Co-organized by the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) and PEMSEA, this seminar brings together government, academic, and technical experts from across the East Asian Seas region on September 7, 2026, in Busan, to refine regional frameworks for blue carbon accounting and pioneer a new biodiversity crediting mechanism. Building on PEMSEA's Regional Blue Carbon Accounting Protocol (RBCAP), the session will explore expanded ecosystem coverage—from mangroves and seagrasses to seaweed, tidal flats, and peatlands—while charting PEMSEA's strategic role in advancing high-integrity blue carbon and biodiversity markets across the region.
