The Republic of Korea, through Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), is hosting the 6th Geo Blue Planet Symposium where among the targeted activities is the establishment of a network of experts in Asia. Alongside the symposium, PEMSEA is holding a back-to-back Learning Exchange on Good Practices in Implementing Biodiversity Conservation-Focused Ecosystem and Area-based Management Approaches on November 1 and the PEMSEA Network of Learning Centers 3rd General Assembly on November 2.

The activities are supported by KMI and Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation.

Join us as we revisit how integrated coastal management (ICM) paved the way for a more holistic and locally-driven approach in managing the coastal and marine resources of East Asian Seas. Led by PEMSEA Chair Emeritus Dr. Chua Thia-Eng, the lecture will revisit ICM, its successes, impacts and lessons as well as reaffirm its relevance to the present and future management of coastal and marine resources in the region.

As part of the activities to commemorate PEMSEA’s 30th anniversary, we are launching the search for Humans of East Asian Seas (EAS). The Humans of EAS will honor and celebrate the work of local coastal and marine champions from among the many local personalities and partners in the last 30 years of collaborative actions of PEMSEA.
